Meeting began 6:55 pm Maurie Murphy presiding.
1) New site:
The possiblitiy of using a new site was discussed. For the moment we still plan to use Wilson Ruritan for our events.
If you know of an ideal place to hold an event please inform the
monarchy. Please have contact information for the owners of said
property.
Further discussion has been tabled until the next meeting.
2) Mummer's Day parade:
We've decided on a comedy theme because it gives us more breathing
room and the ability to act silly. If you plan to attend you must
bring you best garb. If you plan to bring weapon make sure they are
safe.
3) Advertisement:
The idea of placing an Amtgard ad in the Wahington County Technical
High School year book was brought to the table by Alexandra Norton.
Cost depends greatly on the size of the add.
This discussion was tabled until Angela could speak to our insurace
represenative as to whether or not we could, as a not for profit
organization, legally do so. As was announced at the Allthing which
took place on October 16th, 2005 we can; however we cannot say in the
ad anything that is not entirely. Example: "We meet every Sunday". We
do not meet every sunday because of weather conditions or holiday we
may decide to cancel. We could be sued for making false claims.
4) Fundraising:
Due to the expense of insurance it has been suggested that we take
donations out at the park. This is not pay for play. This issue was
tabled until Angela could consult our insurance representative
concerning legality. As was announced at the Allthing which took place
on October 16th, 2005 it is legal and was brought before the populace
for a vote on that day. The majority of the populace was a in favor of
it.
Other forms of fundraising such as dollar tourneys and 6th level
battle games which have been used in the past for various reasons will
also be used to offset the cost of insurance.
Sean S motioned
John M seconded
9 in favor
1 abstain
FYI: a dollar tourney will be held at the park on Oct 30
5) Lawsuits:
This is a clarification. When you sign your waiver you are stating
that you have health insurance, and waive your right to sue for any
damages you might sustain while at our park. If you should decide to
sue our insurance for damages you will have to supply your own lawyer,
and pay your own legal fees. Our insurance company will not supply it
for you because the insurance company would be the defendant in such a
matter.
Our insurance is geared to pay for any injury sustained by a mundane
who for example gets hit in the head with an arrow, run over by a guy
in plate mail, etc. It is to protect Amtgard of Maryland from getting
sued.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm
